A vintage marked by average and maximum temperatures above the values of the last ten years, together with a low level of rainfall. However, it is in these conditions that our vineyards and our grapes have shown us their incredible capacity, not only to survive, but also to give us a small amount of very high quality. One of the earliest and shortest harvests that we remember.
The vintage will be remembered for the heat wave at the end of June, with temperatures of up to 43ºC that affected, above all, the Carignan. A warm summer, but with rains that refreshed the vineyard. The end of August was reached in optimal conditions and with healthy, concentrated and well-balanced grapes. Great quality with slightly lower yields.
2021 begins with Filomena, a storm that leaves more than half a meter of snow and freezing temperatures in January. The meltwater penetrates deep into the earth and provides very good water reserves. Spring is rather cool and dry. Budding and flowering fall on the usual dates and there are no fungal problems at any time. The curdling is good and the vines have a lot of grapes. Summer continues with normal temperatures, without great heat, and the rain is arriving at the right time, which allows the plants to work without suffering great water stress.
